NASHVILLE, TN – Aspire Health is pleased to announce the induction of Dr. Katy Lanz, Chief Clinical Officer, as a Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing. Dr. Lanz received this distinction at the American Association of Palliative & Hospice Medicine Annual Assembly. Dr. Lanz joins a select group of less than 100 individuals who have previously received this honor.
To advance expert care in serious illness, the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) Board of Directors initiated the Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing (FPCN®) intended for their members who are nursing experts and leaders in education, management, advanced practice and research. This includes: association executives; chancellors and deans; hospital chief executives and vice presidents for nursing; nurse consultants; and researchers and entrepreneurs.
Invitation to the Fellows program is more than recognition of one’s accomplishments within the nursing profession. HPNA Fellows in Palliative Care Nursing have a responsibility to engage with other health care leaders in transforming palliative nursing. Once approved by HPNA as a Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing, the applicant is awarded the designation Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing or FPCN®.
Dr. Lanz will add this honor to other recognition for her work in improving access to those with advanced illness. In 2014, Dr. Lanz was awarded the Hospice and Palliative National Nurse Leader of the Year at the Annual Assembly and in 2013, the Advance Practice Nurse Certificant of the Year. These awards were received following appointment as Co-Principle Investigator of a $19 million CMS, CMMI demonstration project award to improve palliative access in skilled nursing facilities.
As an alumni of Vanderbilt University and a Fellow of the Duke Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leaders Program, Dr. Lanz has dedicated her career to learning how to support clinicians and clinical models that help improve care for those who are suffering from serious illness.
